It is a misunderstanding that you have to be flexible to start a yoga practice. I work with students at all levels - from beginners to advanced practitioners. You will find yourself becoming more flexible and stronger as you continue to practice regularly.
It is important to let me know about any existing physical conditions or injuries. Yoga generally benefits people with chronic pain by helping the body regain balance and flexibility as it works on strengthening the body through movement and awareness. If you are under a doctor’s care for an acute or chronic health issue, please be sure to talk to him or her about taking yoga classes.
Yoga can be very beneficial during pregnancy. I offer private and small group pregnancy yoga classes in English. These prenatal classes offer a multifaceted approach to exercise that encourages stretching, body consciousness and grounding as well as gentle focused breathing. Balancing poses may be more difficult as you progress in your pregnancy so we will use a wall or blocks to keep you balanced and stay in the pose.
Prenatal yoga can help to improve sleep, reduce stress and anxiety, increase the strength, flexibility and endurance of muscles needed for childbirth and decrease lower back pain, nausea, headaches and shortness of breath.

Always come to class hydrated and drink plenty of water after yoga class to help flush out . When we perform certain asanas, especially backbends, twists and forward folds, we encourages movement in the bowls and lymph nodes, which then helps release toxins from the body. Drinking plenty of water after class will encourage the detoxification precess. Try not to eat a full meal at least two hours before class.
Before your first session we will discuss your goals to get an idea of the style of yoga is right for you. Power Flow, Vinyasa and Fire Hatha classes tend to be the more physically demanding, while Gentle Hatha, Yin Yoga and the Restorative classes focus on grounding and calming and are less physically challenging.
With regular practice, you will see your body getting stronger and more flexible; your breathing will be deeper and more relaxed, you will feel more grounded and have better posture. You may also notice better sleep and digestion. On a mental level there will be enhanced focus and calmness.
